This is the Mackay Steampunk League's inaugural event - with a lot of support of Sugar City Con Inc, Paxton's, Mackay Sensory Circus and the Steampunk Community.

Mackay Steampunk League was formed in 2016 when a group of talented costuming enthusiasts decided to introduce to Mackay a peak into their exciting world of Steampunk.

Steampunk, as defined by Wikipedia as a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Although its literary origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre,  steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West", in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.

Fighting Pancreatic Cancer is close to Mackay Steampunk League's heart with one of our own members family has been recently touched through the loss of a family member by this awful affliction.  Pancreatic cancer, as defined by Wikipedia arises when cells in the pancreas, a glandular organ behind the stomach, begin to multiply out of control and form a mass. These cancerous cells have the ability to invade other parts of the body. There are a number of types of pancreatic cancer. The most common, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, accounts for about 85% of cases, and the term "pancreatic cancer" is sometimes used to refer only to that type.
